Elite Patient Handling Systems (EPHS) was created by a paramedic who spent his thirty-two year career trying to avoid injuries that would prevent him from missing work and spending valuable time with his family. The mindset of the time was to be physically fit and prepared to lift patients of any size. Unfortunately, he was biding his time between injuries, as there was never a proven process to extricate and laterally transfer patients in a manner that was safe to the provider.
