The story of Liberty Liquors of Mashpee started in Newport, RI in 1988. Owner and founder Dena Rymsha and her then husband bought their first liquor store Adinoffs, which was the first liquor store to re-open in Rhode Island after prohibition.

In 1994 Dena and her business partner bought the license for the Mashpee location in 1994 and built the Liberty Liquors store at the same time as the development of Mashpee Commons.
